Smith’s Theatrical Prosthetic Deadener from Polytek is an additive for PlatSil® Gels that is widely used in applications for special effects and prosthetic applications. It is used to change the typically spicy, synthetic feel of silicone and to simulate the appearance of skin or human tissue. The Deadener is a must to add for making skin structures as intended for the educational process within medical training up to applications for making real dolls and baby clones.
You can add up to 300% Smith’s deadener of the total weight of the Platsil Gel mixture (A + B). You can compose this experimentally yourself as you wish to create the stiffness, (slow) elongation and properties of human skin tissue. When you add a large part (up to 300%) of the deadener to the Platsil Gel, a super gel can be made that is extremely soft with a very sticky quality. We always recommend to do a test with the addition of the deadener before you start working with this. The sticky property can be reduced with the addition of talcum powder. The talcum powder can easily be brushed onto the silicone layer.
Often the first thin layer (surface) is used without the addition of deadener and then a mixed Platsil Gel used with the deadener as a second layer to obtain the surface tension as a human skin tissue.
Comments:
Add Deadener to Part A prior to mixing with Part B.
