Impregnation agent for porous components | dichtol AM Hydro #2589

dichtol AM Hydro #2589 is a ready-to-use, one-component water-based impregnation agent. Through capillary action the product draws itself into the component’s pore structure and cures inside it. The result is a permanent, pressure-tight seal from within — without a vacuum installation, without pressure and without mixing.

Treated components become watertight and gas-tight, no longer absorb moisture or oil, and are easy to clean. Because the product contains no solvents and is not classified as a hazardous substance, it can be processed indoors in workshops without a spray booth or extraction.

Technical data

Application

The component must be clean, dry and free of grease; contamination inside the pores will block the product. Apply dichtol AM Hydro by brushing, spraying, dipping or injecting and keep the surface wet for several minutes. This is the time the material needs to penetrate to depth. Then remove any excess material and leave the component to cure for 24 hours at room temperature. Do not test for leak-tightness until after this period.

Important to know

Impregnation only works where there is open, interconnected porosity. The product is not suitable for smooth, non-porous surfaces or for materials such as PP, PE and silicone. Gaps and leaks larger than 0.2 mm fall outside its range; variants for coarser porosity are available for these. For applications above 130 °C, the same product line includes versions rated up to 300 °C and 500 °C.

Food contact compliance is not available for this product; it must always be established for the complete component. Within the dichtol range, drinking water compliance has been demonstrated for one specific other variant.

• Layer-based components produced by SLA, DLP, PolyJet, MultiJet, SLS, LPBF, LMD, WAAM, MJF, 3DP, FDM, FFF, LLM and LOM
• Outdoor components that absorb moisture and consequently suffer dimensional drift
